Representative Allen Buansi has been serving North Carolina's 56th House District since June 2022, representing parts of Orange County, including Chapel Hill and Carrboro. A dedicated public servant and civil rights attorney, he previously served on the Chapel Hill Town Council from 2017 to 2021. His legislative priorities focus on enhancing public education, promoting environmental justice, and ensuring accessible healthcare for all.

Born and raised in Chapel Hill, Rep. Buansi earned his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 2009 and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2015. During his tenure on the Chapel Hill Town Council, he was recognized for his leadership and commitment to equity-centered policies, including the establishment of the town's first Criminal Justice Debt Program and the Resolution on Reimagining Community Safety. As a civil rights lawyer, he has been a staunch advocate for fair treatment and equal opportunities for all individuals.

In the General Assembly, Rep. Buansi has continued his dedication to public service by advocating for competitive teacher salaries, supporting investments in renewable energy, and increasing funding for local public health departments and school infrastructure. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to creating an affordable, accessible, and inclusive North Carolina, ensuring that the needs of his constituents are met through thoughtful and impactful legislation.
