Amber M. Baker- House District 72

Representative Amber M. Baker serves North Carolina's 72nd House District, representing central Forsyth County, including parts of Winston-Salem. An accomplished educator and leader, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University, as well as a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration from The Ohio State University. Before her election to the General Assembly in 2020, Dr. Baker dedicated over a decade to serving as principal of Kimberley Park Elementary School in Winston-Salem. In the legislature, she focuses on education, housing, and workforce development, reflecting her commitment to community advancement and empowerment.

Dr. Amber Baker has served for more than decade as principal at Kimberley Park School in Winston-Salem. Baker holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University. Baker earned a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. at the Ohio State University.

Baker has received advanced training at the City of Winston-Salem University, the Harvard Institute for Academic Achievement, the National Institute for School Leaders, the Ruby Payne Framework for Understanding Poverty National Training​ and the Wake Forest University School Leadership Initiative.

Baker serves vice-chair of the Forsyth County Democratic Party’s African American Caucus.

Dr. Baker launched her campaign to serve as state representative for North Carolina’s 72nd District. The seat is set to be vacated by Representative Derwin Montgomery, who announced his candidacy for Congress, thereby preventing him from standing for re-election in District 72.
