Rep. Brandon Lofton has served as the Democratic representative for North Carolina's House District 104, located in Mecklenburg County, since January 2019. A partner at the law firm Robinson Bradshaw, he specializes in public finance, assisting local governments, universities, and nonprofits with capital improvement projects. Lofton earned his bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar.
In the General Assembly, Lofton serves on several key committees, including Finance, Judiciary, Commerce, Local Government, and Agriculture. He has sponsored bipartisan legislation aimed at supporting families with children who have learning differences, providing flexibility to public schools, and honoring North Carolina's contributions to the civil rights movement. Prior to his legislative service, Lofton chaired the board for the Council for Children's Rights and served on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Advisory Board. His leadership has been recognized with the North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer Award and the Charlotte Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award.
