Jordan Lopez is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 112 in Mecklenburg County since January 2025. Born and raised in East Charlotte, Lopez is a proud product of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, graduating magna cum laude.
Before his election, Lopez worked as a policy analyst for "Hometown Strong," a rural initiative under Governor Roy Cooper's administration. He also served on the Board of Directors for CharlotteEAST, was a member of the Eastland Park stakeholder group, and chaired the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Get-Out-The-Vote Committee. In 2023, he was appointed to the Andrea Harris Task Force for Racial Equity by Governor Cooper.
At 26, Lopez is the youngest legislator in the North Carolina General Assembly and the first Afro-Latino to serve in this capacity. In the House, he has been appointed as the Democratic Freshman Co-Chair for the 2025-2026 session. His legislative priorities include enhancing public education, investing in infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities, and protecting democratic processes.
