Rep. Nasif Majeed has served as the Democratic representative for North Carolina House District 99 in Mecklenburg County since 2019. A dedicated public servant and advocate for his community, Majeed brings a wealth of experience in government, business, and military service to the legislature. Before his election to the General Assembly, he spent eight years on the Charlotte City Council, where he worked to improve infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and support historically underserved communities. His leadership in local government has been instrumental in addressing issues such as affordable housing, public transportation, and small business development in Charlotte.

Majeed is also a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, having flown over 120 combat missions as a B-52 pilot during the Vietnam War. His service instilled in him a lifelong commitment to leadership, discipline, and public service. After his military career, he became the first African American to own and operate a Burger King franchise in Charlotte, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to economic empowerment. A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, where he earned both his bachelor's and master’s degrees, Majeed has been a strong advocate for HBCUs, veterans' rights, and economic policies that uplift working families. In the legislature, he continues to fight for equitable education funding, criminal justice reform, and expanding healthcare access across North Carolina.
